He chased her for five moons, until sweat poured from his body, running down in rivulets. When his mortal body could take it no longer he slowed and stopped, near a large stream, and she stopped with him. He collapsed, face-forward onto the forest floor, his fatigue completely numbing him. He barely registered being pushed onto his back, barely saw the blurry figure glowing softly above him.

He felt her hand on his heaving chest; warm, vital, her energy flowing into him. He felt her lower herself onto him, her cheek touching his, her eyes curious, projecting both crystal-clear innocence and a timeless wisdom. She trailed a hand up his side, his shoulder, his neck, his nose. She placed the index and middle fingers of her hand in the middle of his forehead, and closed her eyes.

Suddenly an ecstasy washed through him, so powerful it pained him. He felt nothing but this feeling, every nerve in his body thrumming, intoxicated with it, the elation spreading everywhere from the roots of his hair to the tips of his fingers to the soles of his feet.

It lasted both an instant and an eternity, drowning in an endless sea of euphoria, his whole being saturated with it. He knew nothing but this, his existence reduced to the time between when it began, and when it would end.
